This format features former members of the IMAFO as they present their recent and ongoing research to an interested scholarly audience. It is an opportunity to showcase the ever expanding international network generated by IMAFO researchers.

Epigraphik in der Hollandstraße/PSK

“Epigraphik in der Hollandstraße/PSK” (called after the locations of the involved OEAW institutes) is an intercultural initiative of the following fields: Medieval Research, Byzantine Research, Archaeology, Egyptology, Indology, Tibetology, Jewish Studies, Iranian Studies etc. In addition to organizing workshops and a series of lectures, thematic clusters are published in academic journals.

Histories in Transition

In this online lecture series, established in 2020, new findings and developments in the historiography of the Early and High Middle Ages—particularly in the context of manuscripts—are presented and discussed within an international circle of researchers.

IMAFO-Lecture

Internationally renowned scholars present their research in a format that is also accessible to non-specialists. The speakers are nominated by members of the IMAFO and selected in a competitive process.

KImafo-Lecture

A platform for the presentation and discussion of innovative digital methods. It showcases initiatives for the gathering and accessibility of research data that open new pathways in the research of the middle ages.

Manuscript Cultures

The online lecture series 'Manuscript Cultures' (formerly 'Codicology and Palaeography') features lectures by international experts in manuscript studies. Key topics include recent research projects and findings, innovative analytical methods, as well as issues of knowledge production and knowledge transfer.

Talking Maximilian

The lecture series ‘Talking Maximilian’ is intended to give younger scholars in particular the opportunity to present and discuss the results of their research on Maximilian’s life and environment with an interested audience.
