Youssef Belkhadir receives the Science Award Weihenstephan of the City of Freising

Youssef received the award on Monday evening together with Corinna Dawid from the TUM School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan for their recently published work describing how the plant immune system is able to recognize bacterial small fatty acids and induce immune responses. According to Thomas Hofmann, president-elect of the Technical University of Munich, who awarded the prize, their work will lead to a "Paradigm shift in science" and could enable breeders to develop more pathogen-resistant crops.
