Space as a Medium for Organizing Collective Realities & Transforming Social Environments
Webinar, 17 June, 10:00 - 18:00 CET & 18 June, 10:00 - 12:30 CET, hosted by the Lisbon Faculty of Fine Arts (CIEBA / Thematic Line in Exploratory Projects and Society / Systemic City – Interdisciplinary Practices Group) in cooperation with the Institute for Urban and Regional Research (Austrian Academy of Sciences)
Recent developments in technology, science, and culture challenge traditional understandings of urban spaces in favor of multidimensional, multilinear, and malleable spatialities. This, in turn, influences the ways we interact with our spatial surroundings and other inhabitants and users of urban spaces. To highlight the multifaceted nature of urban environments and to explore aspects of lived urbanity, this online webinar focuses on new conceptual approaches and experimental methods for research on urban spaces. Covering a wide range of topics - including arts-based and artistic research methods, new perspectives on architecture and urban morphology, cartography and mapping, as well as shared perspectives on urban time-spaces – the SEES Webinar provides an open arena to discuss ideas, pathways for future research, and new conceptions of ‘the urban’. Discovering urban environments from fresh viewpoints and presenting experimental methods or concepts, this webinar intends to inspire the urban researcher, scholar, artist, or practitioner to venture beyond traditional limitations of their discipline and to discover new exciting tools to answer the pressing questions of our century.
