Biographical sketch

Neos grew up in the sunny Philippines and earned his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He later moved to Germany to pursue his MSc studies through the International Max Planck Research School for Molecular Biology at the University of Göttingen and completed his MSc thesis in the Neugebaur Lab at Yale University studying co-transcriptional splicing of microexons. He is now a PhD student in the Gerlich Lab, where he brings his enthusiasm for RNA biology to studying how newly transcribed mRNAs are packaged and transported through the crowded nuclear environment using advanced RNA imaging and in vitro reconstitution. His PhD research is supported by a Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds (BIF) PhD Fellowship. Outside the lab, Neos enjoys playing volleyball, going to the gym, and photography.
