Biographical sketch

Originally from Vienna, Claudia began her academic journey with diploma studies in Molecular Biology at the University of Vienna. She later moved to Denmark to complete her diploma thesis in the Willats Lab at the University of Copenhagen, focusing on plant glycobiology. Returning to Austria, she earned her doctorate in Biotechnology from BOKU University in the Seifert Lab, where she investigated the role of Arabinogalactan Proteins in cell wall integrity control. In 2012 she joined the Gerlich Lab at IMBA, where she maintains a dual role as lab manager and scientific support. She thrives on collaborating with lab members to push projects forward, running pilot studies or conducting final experiments for publication. She manages lab logistics, since 2023 with the support of Nikki, as well as safety to ensure scientists can stay fully focused on their discoveries. Outside the lab, she enjoys dancing, singing, hiking and photography.
