Biographical sketch

Tamara Vaz is a Predoctoral Fellow in the "Health and Longevity" research group at the Vienna Institute of Demography (ÖAW/VID) and a doctoral candidate in Demography at the University of Vienna. She holds an M.A. in Demography from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Cedeplar/UFMG) and was part of the 2023–2024 European Doctoral School of Demography (EDSD). Her research explores the intersection of mortality dynamics and population health, focusing on the recent slowdown in life expectancy and its potential links to health dynamics and measurement artifacts in high-longevity countries. Previously, she worked with the UN (ECLAC, UNDP, IPC-IG) and Brazil’s Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea), contributing to population projections and social protection program evaluations
