Biographical sketch

Claudia Reiter is a postdoctoral researcher in the Research Group Demography of Austria at the Vienna Institute of Demography (VID). Within the Skill-PAL project, she investigates the role of skill loss during parental leave in shaping gender disparities in earnings in Sweden and Austria. In addition to her position at VID, she is a postdoctoral researcher in the Educational Structures and Educational Opportunities research group at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) and affiliated with the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and Karolinska Institutet, Sweden.

Claudia received her PhD from the Vienna Doctoral School of Social Sciences in 2022 and, since 2024, has been a selected member of the fourth cohort of the College for Interdisciplinary Educational Research (CIDER).

Her research examines how skills, education, and family policies shape social inequalities across the life course. Combining econometric and demographic methods, she studies educational trajectories, parental leave, and skill development using large-scale survey and administrative data.
