A microphone array is a set of microphones arranged on a known geometry. By recording the spatial field and with the help of signal-processing methods, audio sources can be localised. Often, the microphone array include a visual camera to have the spatial soundfield overlapped - an acoustic camera.

At ARI, we have three microphone arrays:

  • 64-channels planar microphone array for various recording approaches (beam forming, near-field holography);
  • Nine spherical microphone array (ZM-1S, Zylia) intended to record spatial auditory scenes;
  • Acoustic camera (CAE Bionic L-112) consisting of 112 microphones, supported by an omnidirectional sound source (Omni 4-LT, ntec).
