The Cluster of Excellence “Eurasian Transformations”, The Institute of Iranian Studies (ÖAW), the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, and the NoMansLand Project will be hosting the international conference “Chinggis Khan and the Mongol Transformation of Eurasia” from 14–17 July 2027. Forty-five speakers from fourteen countries are slated to speak on topics including: the nature of the Chinggisid state; life in the cities and peripheries of the Mongol Empire; the challenges and opportunities of curating museum exhibitions on the Mongols; and various trans-Eurasian themes such as women and gender, patronage, and scholarship.

The event will begin with an afternoon reception on 14 July featuring a cultural program designed in collaboration with the Mongolian Ministries of Culture and of Foreign Affairs, followed by a keynote speech by Professor Nicola Di Cosmo of the Institute for Advanced Studies, Princeton. The following three days will include eleven panels of speakers, from senior figures in the field to current Ph.D. candidates. It is hoped that this event will serve to demonstrate the expanding scope of Mongol Studies internationally and give young scholars an opportunity to meet and discuss their work with those who have built the field over the past few decades.
