The Institute for European Tort Law and the European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law cordially invite you to the next ETL Lecture. Victoria Paganella presents her research on 'Schadensersatz bei Datenschutzverstößen: Wie entscheiden die Gerichte?' on Monday, 13 October 2025, at 11:00. The presentation examines and compares the case law of the ECJ and the Brasilian Supreme Court  („Superior Tribunal de Justiça“, STJ) on the issue of compensation for breaches of data protection law. The analysis focuses on the most important aspects of tort claims in respect to art 82 GDPR and art 42 LGPD and highlights differences and commonalities as well as challenges in this field.

The lecture will be held in German language and is scheduled for 30 minutes, with an opportunity for discussion afterwards. It takes place in the institute's premises. Participation is free of charge. If you would like to attend, please register via etl(at)oeaw.ac.at
