From 2 to 4 June, Vienna becomes the hub of the global TA community. The programme includes around 80 presentations, workshops and discussion panels, with experts from North America, Latin America, Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, and even Oceania.
Several sessions explore how technology assessment and policy advice in the field of technology and society is happening worldwide. Highlights include inputs from Julia Hahn (Germany), co-founder of the globalTA network, science-diplomat Krishna Ravi Srinivas (India), Karen Howard (USA), director of the US Parliament's TA facility, Mahlet Teshome (Ethiopia), who works at the African Union, and Peta Ashworth from Curtin University (Australia). Another highlight is a keynote speech by the Chilean expert on parliamentary TA, Raimundo Roberts, who sheds light on TA from a Latin American perspective.
Numerous presentations will address the structures and rules needed to prevent the negative effects of digitalization, sessions on hypes and their impact on technology development and on TA and quantum technologies also promise to be exciting. The event will conclude with a high-profile roundtable discussion with experts from international organisations, chaired by Douglas Robinson (OECD).
This conference brings together TA practitioners and experts interested in TA and similar activities from across the globe. The conference format allows for scientific contributions and exchange on methods, approaches, and organisational settings.
