TA-Swiss Celebrates 20th Anniversary

The celebration served as the prelude to this year’s Network Technology Assessment (NTA) conference

Das Jubiläum wurde am ersten Tag der internationalen TA-Konferenz im Zentrum Paul Klee gefeiert

On October 29th, the Swiss Centre for Technology Assessment celebrated its 20th anniversary in the Paul Klee Centre in Bern. The ITA's sister organisation is well known particularly for its participatory TA projects: The Publifora allows citizens to become involved in the shaping of technologies similarly to the Danish consensus conferences.

TA-Swiss thus became a member of the group of organisations that has been successfully conducting technology assessment for two decades or more – a group that includes the Office of Technology Assessment at the German Bundestag (TAB) and the ITA.

Politicians congratulate TA institution

Congratulatory speeches were made amongst others by the Swiss Secretary of State for Education and Research, Mauro Dell’Ambrogio, and by several members of the Swiss, German and Austrian parliaments, including the chairwoman of the Committee for Research, Technology and Innovation at the Austrian Nationalrat, Ruperta Lichtenecker.

The subsequent NTA conference 2012 was under the motto "Thinking Ahead – Thinking Along – Reflecting". The relationship between TA and politics was the central theme of many contributions.
