In this conference, we will examine how local and regional mobilities contributed to the making of the wider Greek world.

Whilst scholarly research has usually focused on long-distance movements (whether framing these as colonisation or as trade/interaction), these local and regional mobilities were also crucial in the formation of new communities.

The conference will showcase the results of MIGMAG work in five case study regions, but also bring to fore the research of colleagues working in other regions. Using insights from landscape archaeology in particular, we will compare evidence for changing settlement patters, urbanisation, and population circulation between different regions, to consider an overall picture.
