VIENNA OFFICE THE NEW SCHUBERT EDITION

The Vienna office of the New Schubert Edition, which has existed at the ÖAW since 1980, was assigned to the former Commission for Music Research (now the Musicology Department of the ACDH-CH) in October 2006. The on-site staff members conduct source research, work on the edition of their own volumes and supervise the editing of other staff members' volumes. The newly conceived Schubert digital database (in preparation) will provide detailed source descriptions of Schubert's autographs and thus create an essential basis for future research on the composer's works and their transmission.
