






With 183 contributions - online, in print, on the radio and on TV - 2017 saw a record high in reporting. „Digital Breakdown“, a report published by the OAW in May on the dangers to our digital infrastructure, was met with great interest. A study on online gaming conducted for the Austrian Chamber of Labor stirred a public debate on smart phones as tools for excessive data collection.
Another highlight was the public announcement of the ITA and its partner-organization as official advisors to the Austrian Parliament. For the first time, following similar models in other countries, Parliamentarians will take into consideration the knowledge provided by technology assessment. The 10-year anniversary of NanoTrust, a project exploring various topics around nanotechnologies, was picked up by Austrian Public Radio Ö1 and Der Standard.
Die annual ITA conference focused on the digitalization of work environments. Industry 4.0 and the robotic revolution were the subject of critical analysis by ITA researchers as well as guests such as social scientist Ursula Maier-Rabler.
