Smart Spaces, metal lenses or artificial intelligence in diagnosis - these are just some of the ten new topics that the Institute of Technology Assessment (ITA) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology present to parliament in their current monitoring report.

"It is our sixth report in total. We are proposing these topics to the parliamentarians for discussion and are already curious to see which of them will be shortlisted for a new study", emphasizes Michael Nentwich, head of ITA. Most recently, Parliament commissioned the study on "5G and health" on the basis of the monitoring. The final report was presented to the public in February.

Consultations go into the next round

"I am also pleased that the framework agreement has been extended for another two years. In doing so, Austria is following the example of other countries that also seek advice from technology assessment institutions," Nentwich continues. Good to know: From now on all reports will be made available disability-friendly on the Parliament's website. (DR)
