Dolors Palau-Sampio Joins CMC as Guest Researcher

The research group “Media Accountability & Media Change” is delighted to welcome a distinguished guest from Spain in the summer semester of 2025.

Dr. Dolors Palau-Sampio is joining the CMC team as a guest researcher for several months. During her stay at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, she will conduct a comparative research project on transparency mechanisms in Austrian and Spanish newsrooms. As part of this project, case studies on selected best practices are planned. The analytical framework for these studies is currently being developed in a series of project workshops at CMC.

In addition to her research activities, Dr. Palau-Sampio will participate in various CMC events. Among other engagements, she is scheduled to give a talk as part of the “CMC Talks” series, where she will present findings from her research on Pseudomedia and disinformation in a context of disruption in the news media industry.

Dr. Dolors Palau-Sampio is a senior lecturer in Journalism at the University of Valencia (Spain) and holds a PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Before embarking on her academic career, she worked as a journalist for nine years. Her research focuses on digital and narrative journalism, disinformation, quality journalism and accountability. Co-editor of four books, she has published 60 articles –mostly in indexed journals– and 50 book chapters. Since 2014 she has been coordinating the working group on journalism and quality information at the Asociación Española de Investigación de la Comunicación. She has been a visiting researcher at several universities in Europe (France, United Kingdom, Germany, Portugal and Finland) and Latin America (Chile, Argentina, Peru and Mexico). She is currently the Spanish PI of the Horizon 2020 R&D project PLEDGE, funded by the European Union.
