A Systematic View on the Transformation and De-Fossilization of the European Energy System

The de-fossilization of our energy system and of other areas of life can only be achieved through the coordinated use of all available technological and behavioral approaches and resources.
This energy transition therefore requires a comprehensive social negotiation and consensus-building process and thus presents science with interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary challenges.
The symposium will paint a systemic picture of the de-fossilization of the European energy system, with a particular focus on
- potential conflicts that might arise through different perceptions of what constitutes a Just Transition to a de-fossilized future,
- how these challenges can be addressed in policy making processes
- and what role effective communication strategies can play to support the de-fossilization of societies.
