Christian Köberl

is former Director General of the Natural History Museum Vienna and full professor of geosciences (emeritus) at the University of Vienna, where he was head of the Department of Lithospheric Research. He is full member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, where he currently heads the Committee on Geosciences. He has published over 540 peer-reviewed papers; among several awards and distinctions, asteroid 15963 is named in his honor “Koeberl”.

He represents Austria on the IIASA Council and is chair of the IIASA Council Finance, Risk and Audit Committee.
