Bernhard Hammer joined the Vienna Institute of Demography in 2014 after receiving his doctoral degree in Social Sciences and Economics at the Vienna University of Technology. During his doctoral studies he worked on National Transfer Accounts, an accounting system which measures the relation between the age of individuals and their economic activities. Also his research at the Wittgenstein Centre focuses on measures of economic activity, especially those measures which capture and illustrate the role of age.
