Archival research

Due to the outbreak of the COVID‐19 pandemic, the planned research visits to the British Museum in London and the fieldwork in Ephesos were cancelled. So, the focus of the work in 2020 and 2021 was on the evaluation of the data collected in London and Ephesos in 2019 as well as the archival records available in Vienna.

Lilli Zabrana devoted herself to the processing of architectural blocks from the Artemision that were documented in 2019 in the British Museum as well as at the Selçuk Aqueduct reused as spolia. In addition, it was possible to systematise the recorded stonemasonʹs marks on the Selçuk aqueduct, the construction of which probably took place with the building of the Basilica of St. John in the 6th century.
