Manuscript Research in the Collections of the British Library

Between 2 and 8 February 2025, RevIdEM PI Adrian C. Pirtea carried out on-site research on a number of Syriac, Arabic and Armenian manuscripts at the British Library, including Syriac and Armenian collections of Apophthegmata Patrum, monastic hagiography, and liturgical manuscripts. These and other manuscripts are key witnesses to the reception of the traditions about the Desert Fathers & Mothers in the late antique and medieval Christian East and large parts of this material remains unpublished and unexplored.
