The Historical Studies Department at CEU offers two-credit elective courses specifically designed for academic purposes, free of charge for CEU students and the students/faculty from the institutions participating in the Cluster (University of Vienna, University of Innsbruck, Austrian Academy of Sciences).

The CEU Historical Studies (HISU) Department is pleased to announce that the following source language courses will be offered during the 2024/2025 academic year and are open and free of charge to CEU students and students/ faculty from the institutions participating in the Cluster of Excellence "EurAsian Transformations" (University of Vienna, University of Innsbruck, Austrian Academy of Sciences) :
Ancient Greek Beginner, Latin Beginner and Intermediate, Arabic Beginner, Hebrew Beginner, Persian Beginner, Ottoman Turkish Beginner, Russian Beginner, and Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian Beginner Syriac Beginner.
Classes will be taught in person for all students based in Vienna, but a hybrid option will be available for all courses attended by the students from Innsbruck. All classes have the goal of enabling students to start reading sources for the purposes of academic research and are source-text based.
Registration:
Registration for students opened on December 9,2024 and will close on January 12, 2025. Each course offers 2 credits and must be taken for grade.
