Hannes Pichler: Quantum State Characterization via Quench Dynamics

Quantum State Characterization via Quench Dynamics

We plan to develop novel tools to access properties of quantum many-body systems in quantum simulators with limited control. This addresses one of the main challenges in current experiments, where limited control over the quantum hardware, prevent direct implementations of expensive tomographic protocols. Specifically, we propose to develop and combine two approaches: classical shadows, and variational tomography, and study implementations thereof in Rydberg atom array systems and cold atoms quantum simulators.

The ESQ discovery grant allows us to explore high-risk research directions in the rapidly evolving fields of quantum technology. This enables the us to pursue promising ideas that could transform the future of quantum science.
