“Challenges in semileptonic B decays” workshop held at Campus Akademie

Semileptonic B meson decays play a special role in the precision physics and allow for the determination of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements Vcb and Vub in the Standard Model of particle physics. They are also a sensitive probe for the coupling to the third lepton generator and allow to test lepton flavor universality, which is violated in many New Physics extensions.

However, the study of these decays is tricky and involves a plethora of theoretical and experimental issues that have been the matter of this workshop. The “Challenges in semileptonic B decays” workshop was held from September 23 to 27, 2024 at Campus Akademie in the very center of Vienna and brought together a group of 50 world-leading experts of the field. It follows a series of previous workshops held at the Mainz Institute for Theoretical Physics (2015 and 2018) and in Barolo (2022).
