New chair of NuPECC!
09.12.2024
At the NuPECC meeting in the Physikzentrum Bad Honnef, Marek Lewitowicz (GANIL, France) officially handed over the NuPECC Chair to Eberhard Widmann (Stefan Meyer Institute, Austrian Academy of Sciences).
Marek’s tenure culminated with the presentation of the 2024 Long Range Plan for Nuclear Physics in Europe. This 180-page document (#LRP24), developed by over 200 leading scientists over two years, highlights the vital role of nuclear physics in addressing sustainable development goals (#SDG17), explores future research directions, and outlines the necessary research infrastructures.
Incoming Chair Eberhard Widmann emphasized the next steps:
"Now is the time to engage with stakeholders about the #LRP24 recommendations. For example, there are exciting future discoveries to be made in nuclear and hadron physics that NuPECC wants to bring forward in the European Strategy for Particle Physics process."
Stay tuned for updates on these exciting developments!
