Heeresgeschicht­liches Museum im Umbruch. HGM neu gestalten – aber wie?

Die öffentliche Debatte über das Heeresgeschichtliche Museum (HGM) in Wien reißt nicht ab. Der vom Ringstraßen-Architekten Theophil Hansen geplante Prachtbau wurde 1869 als k.k. Hofwaffenmuseum eröffnet. Bis heute schließt das HGM sowohl architektonisch als auch inhaltlich bruchlos an das Erbe der Monarchie an. Seit zwei Jahren wird die Ausrichtung des Hauses öffentlich diskutiert, nicht zum ersten Mal, jedoch weitaus intensiver als zuvor. Eine umfassende Neupositionierung steht an. Aber wie soll das „HGM neu“ gestaltet sein? Und welche gesellschaftlichen und wissenschaftlichen AkteurInnen sollen an der Neugestaltung beteiligt werden?
