In its government program, the Austrian Federal Government has committed itself to “developing a holistic strategy to prevent and combat all forms of antisemitism”. The Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW) is supporting this undertaking by establishing a new research focus on contemporary antisemitism. This is the first time that antisemitism research has been institutionally anchored in a research facility in Austria. As the largest non-university research institution, the ÖAEW will make evidence-based knowledge available in accordance with the "Vienna Theses" without anticipating political decision-making and action. The key activities are based on four pillars: research projects, further analyzes of the government’s antisemitism monitoring, a fellowship program, and activities for networking antisemitism research.
