On August 31, 2023, the third DTE campaign started at the Joint European Torus (JET). DTE stands for deuterium and tritium, which means that the campaign experiments will be conducted with a fuel mixture of these two hydrogen isotopes. Future fusion devices, such as ITER and DEMO, will also be powered by deuterium and tritium. Therefore, the experiments at JET are of great importance.

The campaign will run for four weeks with a one-week break and represents the culmination of a joint effort by researchers from EUROfusion consortium members across Europe. Experiments at JET, which celebrated its 40th anniversary at the end of June, have led to many scientific breakthroughs over the past decades.

More information about the new experiments can be found on the EUROfusion website.
