Christopher F. Laferl has been Professor of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Literatures and Cultures at the Paris Lodron University Salzburg since 2004. He has also taught at the Universities of Vienna, Texas (Austin), Colorado (Boulder), São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador/Bahia and Feira de Santana. His research interests and his teaching focus on early modern literatures and cultures in Spain and the colonial world, on 20th-century Latin American literature and popular culture, on the relations between Spain and Austria in the 16th century and on the theory of biographical and autobiographical writing.
