In the course of your participation in an ÖAW event, you might be photographed or recorded (including audio recordings). These recordings can be used in various media (print, TV, online, etc) and in publications (print, online, etc) of the ÖAW for the purpose of public relations and documentation. There is no financial compensation for this.

The ÖAW is legally appointed “to promote science in every way” [cf. § 2 of the Federal Act on the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW Act – ÖAWG)]. In order to meet these requirements, ÖAW also organizes events in fulfilment of its public duties and informs the public about them.

The legal basis for processing of the recordings are therefore the public and legitimate interests of ÖAW in scientific research, public relations and documentation (Art 6 (1) e and f GDPR in conjunction with § 2 ÖAWG, § 12 DSG).

There is no legal obligation to provide your data (creation and use of recordings), however, in case you do not want to provide your data a participation in ÖAW events where recordings are made is not possible.

Storage of your recordings

The image and video recordings (including audio recordings) are stored as long as legally permissible or necessary for the purposes for which they are processed.

Recipients of your recordings

The image and/or video recordings made may be published. In addition, the recordings may be transmitted to cooperation partners or processors for the purpose of public relations or for documentation purposes (e.g. agencies, booth builders, printing companies).

You will find information on your rights and the contact data of the ÖAW Data Protection Officer in the ÖAW Data Protection Declaration.
