The OeAW regards the Open-Access publication of research results as a valuable asset and supports Open-Access publishing in various forms.

 

Open-Access Fund of the OeAW

Eligible applicants are members of the OeAW with a valid employment contract at the time of application as well as members of the OeAW.
Funding is available for articles in journals and anthologies, monographs.
Publications produced within the framework of a third-party funded project (FFG, FWF, ERC,...) are not eligible for funding.

Open-Access Block Grant from the Austrian Science Fund FWF

Project managers and employees of FWF projects with affiliation and employment at the Austrian Academy of Sciences are eligible to apply.
Funding is available for articles in journals and edited volumes that were produced as part of an ongoing FWF project, as well as in projects that were completed not longer than 24 months prior to the submission date.
Book publications such as complete edited volumes, monographs and eBooks are not eligible for funding. Applications must still be submitted directly to the FWF (see: Funding programmes for book publications).

Open-Access Publishing agreements

All employees of the OeAW or FWF projects are eligible to apply.
The application is submitted directly on the publishing platform and funding is released after review by library. The rules of the Open-Access Fund or the FWF's Open-Access Block Grant apply.
For the following publishers, the costs are settled directly between the OeAW and the publisher; the application is made via the publishers' platforms. The conditions of the Open-Access Fund of the OeAW and the Open-Access Block Grant of the FWF apply.
No additional application to the Open-Access Fund of the OeAW or to the Open-Access Block Grant of the FWF is necessary.

Please note: articles that have been written as part of other third-party funded projects are not eligible for submission!
