Organised within the framework of the MEDEMAP project, the panel brought together researchers engaged in a cross-national mixed-method study exploring how different models of democracy shape public trust in media. Among the speakers, Maren Beaufort presented the contribution “Models of Democracy and Media’s Role – Lessons from a Cross-Country Study”. The project aims to clarify the extent to which certain media under which conditions perform which democratic functions for which audiences, thus making it apparent what is at stake for democratic media – and for democracy itself. 

The discussion underscored the importance of in-depth qualitative research to deepen the understanding of quantitative findings and to better grasp the evolving relationship between information supply, democracy, and citizen engagement. The conference not only offered valuable insights into global communication challenges but was also enriched by the vibrant academic exchange and dynamic setting of Singapore.

Am 14. Juli 2025 fand in Singapur eine wissenschaftliche Konferenz zum Thema „Umweltgerechtigkeit kommunizieren: Viele Stimmen – ein Planet“ statt. Unter anderem haben Expert:innen über das Thema „Vertrauen in Medien und Demokratie“ gesprochen.

Forscher:innen aus zehn europäischen Ländern arbeiten im Projekt MEDEMAP zusammen. Das Projekt untersucht, welche Rolle Medien für die Demokratie spielen. Maren Beaufort vom CMC stellte erste Ergebnisse vor. Weitere Forscher:innen berichteten aus ihren Ländern.

Die Konferenz bot viele Möglichkeiten zum internationalen Austausch.
