06.10.2026

On Friday, 31 October 2025, 17:30–20:00 the VLACH Commission celebrated Armoanian music, dance, and cultural heritage at the Festsaal of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

A concert marked the festive conclusion of the international conference “Aromanian on the Path to a Literary and Standard Language”, organised by the Commission Vanishing Languages and Cultural Heritage (VLACH) at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. After two days of presentations and discussions on the preservation, standardisation, documentation, and contemporary vitality of the Aromanian language, the programme concluded with an introduction to Aromanian folklore by Prof. Thede Kahl, followed by a vibrant performance by the Association of Vlachs (Armânj) from Veria, Greece. Through traditional songs and dances of the Aromanians, the performers brought to life the rich musical heritage of the Aromanian/Vlach communities of the Balkans. The concert offered a lively and authentic celebration of cultural identity, connecting language, music, dance, memory, and community.
