• Sažetak: Correlates are a special feature of German grammar. They and their subordinate clauses can be described as correlative links within the broader context of subordination. This book takes a unified view of correlative links; syntactic, semanto-pragmatic, and stylistic aspects are discussed in terms of how they interact. In the foreground of interest is the question of the extent to which correlates are obligatory/optional, an essential point for the teaching of German as a foreign language.; Korrelate sind eine Besonderheit der deutschen Grammatik. Sie und ihre Nebensätze werden in dieser Untersuchung als "Korrelatverbindungen" beschrieben. Diese syntaktische Konstruktion hat ihren Platz innerhalb des größeren Kontextes der korrelativen Subordination, ein konkretes Verfahren des Deutschen. Die Korrelatverbindung tritt diskontinuierlich auf, jedoch in einem einzigen komplexen Satzgefüge. So kann man von einer "bipolaren kommunikativen Struktur" sprechen, an der Matrix- und Nebensatz beteiligt sind. Das Korrelat im Matrixsatz macht die Verflechtung der beiden Pole explizit: Ich rechne damit, daß du kommst. Das Vorkommen eines solchen Konstruktionstyps wird aber nicht nur von grammatischen Faktoren bestimmt. Vielmehr hängen grammatische, semantopragmatische und stilistische Aspekte zusammen. Dies offenbart sich in der Präferenz des Sprechers/Schreibers für ein Setzen des Korrelats selbst in Fällen, wo es grammatisch nicht notwendig ist. In diesem Buch werden deshalb Korrelatverbindungen aus einer einheitlichen Sicht präsentiert, die somit der Komplexität des Gegenstandes Rechnung trägt. Im Vordergrund steht die Frage der Obligatorik beziehungsweise Fakultativität der Korrelate, ein wesentlicher Punkt für die Didaktik des Deutschen als Fremdsprache. Ein Kontinuum-Modell, das von der absoluten Obligatorik des Korrelats bis hin zum Korrelatverbot reicht, beantwortet die gestellte Frage.
