Public Transport from/to Vienna Airport
This route takes you about 60 minutes (one-way). Service is every 30 minutes. The recommended route is barrier-free in that escalators and/or elevators are available at stations, trains can be accessed step-free, and buses have ramps upon notification of the driver.
Vienna Airport lies outside of the city borders. We recommend using cheaper local trains („S“, commuter train) to get to the city center and using subway („U“) and bus services from there to get to ISH. Do NOT use fast trains (Railjet („RJ“) or Railjet Express („RJX“)) or the City Airport Train („CAT“) as they are either slower or unnecessarily expensive. We recommend the following route:
Line | Scheduled Departure | Destination | Change at |
S7 | Minute ’19/’49 | Varies, focus on scheduled departure | Wien Mitte |
U3 (orange line) | Every 3-5 minutes | Ottakring | Ottakring, follow these (insert link to picture here) signs |
Bus 46A or 46B, NOT 45A | Every 7-8 minutes | Wilhelminenberg | Wilhelminenberg |
The bus station at Wilhelminenberg is directly at the venue.
A single ride for this route costs 4.50 €. It can be comfortably booked in advance via the ÖBB website, the ÖBB App or at ticket machines at Vienna Airport station (Destination is “Wien Wilhelminenberg”, card payments are accepted).
We recommend the same route in opposite direction for your travel back to the airport:
Line | Scheduled Departure | Destination | Change at |
Bus 46A or 46B | Every 3-7 minutes | Ottakring | Ottakring |
U3 (orange line) | Every 3-5 minutes | Simmering | Landstraße |
S7 or REX7 | Every 9-21 minutes S7: Minute ’19 /‘49 REX7: Minute ’28/’58 | Flughafen Wien OR Wolfsthal | Flughafen Wien |
Taxi/Uber from/to Vienna Airport
This route takes you about 45 minutes plus potential wait time in traffic jams.
Many Taxi companies offer flatrate prices ranging around 35 to 50 € per car. Note that Uber is heavily regulated in Austria and is not much more than a Taxi booking platform with limited freedoms to set prices.
