The workshop is organized by Leonardo Schiocchet and Marieke Brandt. It is funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) project “Austrian-Arab Encounters” and the ÖAW/New Frontiers Research Groups Programme "Tribalism, religious radicalization, fossil energy, and the state: Deciphering local power politics in Yemen’s frontier provinces Saʿda and al-Jawf" which are based at the Institute for Social Anthropology, Austrian Academy of Sciences.
