The absolute zero in quantum computing

Perfectly erasing data and achieving the lowest possible temperature may sound like very different tasks, but they are closely related. At the Vienna University of Technology, a quantum formulation of the third law of thermodynamics has been found.

When many quantum particles interact, complex systems emerge. And with infinitely complex systems, it is theoretically possible to reach absolute zero.
