Quantum Science Austria

Julian Léonard

Julian Léonard is Assistant Professor at TU Wien, working on experimental quantum information. Julian Leonard started at the institute for atomic and subatomic physics at TU Wien in November 2021. Prior to his appointment at Vienna, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University working on quantum simulations with ultracold atoms in optical lattices. In Vienna, his research group will use neutral atoms coupled to optical cavities to realize quantum systems with programmable connectivity. This will result in new opportunities in quantum science, including realizing exotic types of quantum matter, engineering quantum states with a complex non-local entanglement structure, and implementing atom-photon interfaces for quantum communication applications.
