Concept for an Internet portal of spatial research in Austria

In the framework of this short project for the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment a concept for establishing a network of the research community specialising in spatial studies was elaborated.

The network should have been supported by a common database and Internet platform. This portal should have been presenting all research institution and researchers, make current and finished projects available and make the research results accessible in digital format.

We should proceed in the following steps:

  • Establishing the status quo of Internet presence of the Austrian spatial research community and evaluation of the need of respective information.
  • Presenting the technical alternatives and needs for such a portal (metadata standards, tools)
  • Elaborating options and strategies for a sustainable organisational implementation
