The thematic focus of this conference will be the global level of TA, its various forms, and the prospects for international cooperation. The global perspective implies including various activities and approaches that may not be termed “TA” but relate methodologically, thematically, and organizationally. It will be a fruitful inspiration for TA to move outside of its more established (Western/European) contexts.

The forthcoming Call will include the following topics:

  • What forms of TA (and TA-like activities) are non-European TA or TA-like institutions doing, and on which topics?
  • How much ‘global’ (and how much ‘local’ or ‘regional’) is there in ‘national’ and ‘European’ TA? (Topics such as pandemics, climate change, issues such as global justice).
  • What kind of exchange among TA practitioners worldwide would be possible and valuable?
  • What kind of socio-political structures are essential for a well-functioning TA?
  • What competencies and resources are needed to meet the global scope of TA?
  • What methods and approaches are needed, and how can their efficiency and impact be better assessed?
  • What are important lessons learned from the globalTA initiative so far?
  • What inter- and transdisciplinary training strategies for TA are available for research, societal and policy advice, particularly from a global perspective? Where is there a need for action?
  • How far can TA support the Sustainable Development Goals, such as climate protection (SDG 13) and peace (SDG 16) ... at local and global level?
