Biography
Born in 1985 in Sofia (Bulgaria), Mag.a phil., Dr.in phil.
Studied history in Vienna and Paris. From 2012 to 2016, DOC Fellow of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) at the Department of Contemporary History, University of Vienna; Center Austria Fellow at the University of New Orleans (fellowship by the Austrian Ministry of Science) and fellow at the Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research in Braunschweig. 2016/2017 PostDoc-Track Fellowship of the ÖAW. In 2018, publication of the dissertation Die NS-Zeit im Bildgedächtnis der Zweiten Republik, awarded the Herbert Steiner Prize of the Documentation Centre of Austrian Resistance and the Grete Mostny Prize of the Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies, University of Vienna. Since 2016, participation in numerous projects on biographical history in the context of the Austrian labor movement (biographies of Franz Marek, Tilly Spiegel, and Otto Koenig – the latter as research associate at the Austrian Adult Education Archive), institutional history (history of the Department of Contemporary History at the University of Vienna and of the Austrian Parliament building), and on Nazi forced labor in Vienna and in Austria more broadly (forced labor in the construction of the Port of Vienna, forced labor in the Swietelsky construction company, analysis of Viennese health insurance data of foreign civilian laborers). Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Contemporary History, University of Vienna; project collaborator at the Documentation Centre of Austrian Resistance (analysis of Nazi labor books of the Enzesfelder Metallwerke). 2024 City of Vienna Prize for the Humanities, Social Sciences, Cultural and Legal Studies; 2025 Ludo Hartmann Prize for Adult Education. Member of the zeitgeschichte editorial team.
