AITHYRA, the new Institute for Biomedical AI of the Austrian Academy of Sciences is moving into its first premises at the Marxbox in Vienna thanks to the support of the Vienna Business Agency, the City of Vienna, and the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

The institute is thus located in the heart of one of the largest life sciences hubs in Europe. Its immediate neighbor in the third district is the Vienna BioCenter, which offers a unique combination of research, education and business on a single campus.

As a first step, AITHYRA is moving into around 1,000 m² of laboratory and office space in the Marxbox, with two additional floors being planned and equipped to meet the requirements of the new research groups. Premises in the Marxbox are being made available by the Vienna Business Agency. In order to create optimal structures for the future, the Vienna Business Agency on behalf of the City of Vienna is also creating a new life sciences building in the immediate vicinity, into which AITHYRA will move as an anchor tenant in 2029. Anita Ender, Managing Director of AITHYRA, was involved in both, the preparations for the Marxbox, and requirements for the new life sciences building. “We would like to create an exciting and inspiring working environment for a new generation of AI life scientists and robotics engineers. I would like to thank the City of Vienna, the Vienna Business Agency and our mother organization, the Austrian Academy of Sciences, for making the move into the Marxbox happen, and for allowing AITHYRA to co-create a new building on the VBC campus.”

The AITHYRA directors are also grateful to all individuals who literally help(ed) with the physical move-in, from AITHYRA employees, to CeMM and Academy colleagues and friends, or Hookipa and X4 neighbors. We believe that everyone can understand what it means to move in and furnish a new "home" (purchasing, carrying around, installing, cleaning, problem solving, handicrafts, cleaning again...). Your contribution adds to the magic of AITHYRA. We are not fully done yet, but made great progress. Thank you!
