About the HFD Project

The Human Fertility Data Project is a joint project of the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) and the Vienna Institute of Demography (VID), aiming to provide free and user-friendly access to a variety of fertility data.
The Project consists of two companion databases, based at the MPIDR in Rostock, Germany: the Human Fertility Database (www.humanfertility.org) and the Human Fertility Collection (www.fertilitydata.org). The 1st HFD symposium was held in Rostock in 2011
(www.humanfertility.org/cgi-bin/symposium.php); the 2nd HFD symposium took place in 2016 in Berlin (www.humanfertility.org/cgi-bin/symposium2.php).
