Natural tombs

The rock cave behind the central tomb of Lha yul (#0038/M-1): this includes the remains of a wooden construction and possibly once was used as a natural tomb (in the form as it is still to be found in the burial tradition of Upper ’Phyong po, i.e. exposing of the corpse in a rock niche or stone hut) or, later, as a funerary chamber (ring khang) linked to the burial mound tradition in this area.
