The chambered tombs

The basic design of a two-chamber tomb, probably the common type of a medium-sized grave. It forms one of three principal types of chambered tombs: a) single chambered; b) two-chamber; c) multi-chambered (i.e. three or more chambers, with four chambers usually in the pattern of a cross). This graph is based on information from an excavation of M-8 of the field of Ser khung (#0047; drawing after Chan 1994: 369). For comparative data from the Dulan fields (NE Tibet), with references to the (archaeologically much less known) situation in Central Tibet, see Tong 2008: 89f., et passim.
