Pedro M. L. Gonçalves will be responsible for the geo-archaeological analysis focusing on local topography, land use, hydrology and geomorphology as well as the creation of a chronological terrain model of the research area, which encompass the whole territory of the sanctuary of Artemis.
Pedro Gonçalves obtained a degree in Architecture at the Lusíada University at Lisboa as well as a MSc title in Geosciences in the University of Coimbra (Department of Earth Sciences), after an interdisciplinary survey based on geologic and archaeological data. As for his professional experience, he pursued furthermore a career as an architect. Moreover, and apart from archaeological field work experience in Egypt and Guinea, he also worked in commercial archaeology for the “Cambridge Archaeological Unit”. He completed his PhD thesis about the landscape and environmental changes at Memphis, Egypt at the University of Cambridge (Department of Archaeology) in 2019.
