"The two-day conference, organized by the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial in cooperation with the Körber-Stiftung and the Arolsen Archives, will gather international curators and scholars from museums, memorial sites and research institutions to discuss how persecution and deportations can be documented, exhibited and mediated through educational activities. The conference will use the latest data on the extent of systematic persecution from 1938-1945, with a special focus on the deportations of Jews, Roma and Sinti, political dissidents and other persecuted groups during National Socialism. There will be presentations and conversations around current exhibition concepts as well as innovative forms of documentation and educational work in museums and memorial sites in Europe and Israel. The often complex curatorial development process will be highlighted in a comparative perspective with questions concerning the conception, design and public perception of exhibitions and documentation in museums and memorial sites."
