Neuropsycholinguistic Research

General information

The Department of Linguistics and Communication Research conducts theory-driven, systematic research focussing on two main areas, Neuropsycholinguistics, in particular on language impairments in adults, (i.e. aphasia), and Child Language. In these research areas, speakers of German are compared with speakers of other languages. The strong interdisciplinary nature of the research draws on the fields of psychology, neurology, special education, computer sciences, and philology. The collected data serve as the basis for pure basic research as well as applied research in collaboration with national and international research teams.

On April 1, 2012 the research unit Child Language moved to the Department of Linguistics of the University of Vienna !!!

Neuropsycholinguistic Research is still being carried out within the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
