Seminar: On the extended hydrogen exosphere of Mercury

Daniel Schmid and Helmut Lammer will present the first in-situ measured atomic hydrogen density profile derived from magnetic field observations by MESSENGER.

Based on the obtained atomic hydrogen densities an exospheric model is utilized, which includes ionization, dissociation and recombination processes, to constrain the molecular hydrogen surface density at Mercury.
